Is there anything 12-year-old dance sensation Maddie Ziegler can’t do?
The answer is quite clearly ‘no’ when it comes to all things performance-based. The pint-size Pennsylvania native, whose dance videos have attracted over a billion plays on YouTube, has peeled off the blunt blonde wigs and the flesh-coloured body suits that she sports in singer-songwriter Sia’s music videos for a turn in the high-fashion spotlight.
The gifted dancer and actress was the star of Ralph Lauren’s children’s fashion show, which was staged in Central Park Zoo in Manhattan last night. She modelled three looks including a check shirt dress, a preppy bomber jacket and a little black dress. Ziegler, who initially found fame in hit reality TV show Dance Moms, looked at ease on the runway as a gathering of New York’s stylish mothers and their little ones watched on.
But Ziegler was forced to share her catwalk debut with her little sister, 11-year-old Mackenzie. When Maddie was interviewed by The Telegraph back in May, she revealed that the two of them “don’t get on at all!”
She explained: “I’m responsible. She’s not. She loves spending money and I like to save it. If something is a lot of money, I’m like, ‘Mom, you don’t have to buy this for me.’ But Mackenzie is like, ‘You are buying me this.’ She’ll do anything in her power to get a Louis Vuitton purse.”
The siblings looked like they put their differences aside for the sake of their catwalk debut. And who knows, perhaps little Mackenzie was rewarded with a purse of the Ralph Lauren kind…
